Trauma-Informed Therapy for Teens, Young Adults, and Adolescents in Maryland
At On Common Ground Counseling, we provide therapy for teens, adolescents, and young adults experiencing anxiety, trauma, depression, and emotional challenges.
We also support parents seeking guidance in understanding and connecting with their child or young adult during difficult emotional periods.
Our work focuses on helping clients process their experiences, understand emotional patterns, and build healthier ways of coping and moving forward.
A safe space for teens, young adults, and families
We understand that starting therapy can feel overwhelming—especially when you’re struggling with trauma, anxiety, or emotional pain.
Many teens and young adults worry about being judged, misunderstood, or unsure where to begin. We provide a safe, grounded, and nonjudgmental space where you can move at your own pace.
For parents, we help bridge understanding and communication so you can better support your child or young adult without feeling lost or shut out of the process.
Trauma-Informed, Developmentally Focused Care
We specialize in supporting clients through:
-
Trauma and difficult life experiences
-
Anxiety and chronic stress
-
Depression and emotional overwhelm
-
Identity development and life transitions
-
Family and relationship stress
-
Emotional regulation challenges
Our approach is trauma-informed and developmentally sensitive, meaning therapy is tailored to where you are in life—whether you’re a teen, transitioning into adulthood, or supporting someone you love.
We focus on helping you understand your emotional patterns and build practical tools for lasting change.
Moving forward with support and clarity
Healing is not about “fixing” who you are—it’s about understanding your story and learning new ways to move through it.
We’ve worked with teens, young adults, and families through some of life’s most painful and confusing experiences, and we know that meaningful change is possible when you feel safe, seen, and supported.
Whether you're seeking support for yourself or your child, we’re here to help you find clarity, connection, and direction.
Let’s begin the process—on your terms, and on common ground.
Meet our Therapist
Christina deGraft-Johnson is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) with over 12 years of experience working with individuals, couples, and families. She draws from a variety of evidence-based approaches to meet clients where they are. Christina brings warmth, empathy, and a collaborative spirit to the therapeutic process, helping clients feel safe, heard, and empowered.
Her journey toward becoming a therapist began at age 13, when she discovered her older sister’s introduction to psychology textbook. Fascinated by how the brain works and moved by the idea of helping others navigate their inner worlds, Christina knew early on that this was her calling. Today, she remains deeply committed to walking alongside clients as they find healing, insight, and lasting change.
